Successful future ahead for table tennis star and InterHigh pupil, Anna Hursey
As the youngest athlete in the history of any sport to compete in the Commonwealth Games, Anna Hursey has excelled in her table tennis career whilst managing her education at the same time. A pupil of InterHigh, our online platform has given her the flexibility to travel all over the world and continue her intense training schedule without sacrificing her education.
Born in Carmarthen, Anna’s love for table tennis began in Swansea, at the Penlan Leisure centre. Today, she ranks number one in Wales for the under 15s, number two for seniors and trains with elite coach Liu Xun at the Olympic Centre in Tianjin.
Now living full time with her Mum in China, Anna has the opportunity to work with fantastic coaches and train with top players. Currently training with the Tianjin regional squad, her demanding training regime meant her time was very limited when it came to education.
Hearing from Anna’s Mum, Xiuli, she says:
“The main reason for enrolling Anna at InterHigh was the flexibility, meaning she can do lessons anywhere and anytime. Learning with InterHigh has utilised Anna’s precious time to train, and I’m really pleased Anna can study online and continue working to the national curriculum, whilst being abroad.”
InterHigh’s recorded lessons mean that Anna can easily catch-up on any missed lessons at a time that suits her existing schedule. This allows her to learn and train with complete flexibility and make the most of her spare time.
Recently featured in the BAFTA Cymru award winning documentary, Going for Gold, the documentary followed the story of Anna who has made a name for herself as a Welsh table tennis prodigy, with a successful career ahead.
