Phoenix College Málaga widens A Level subject choices with King’s InterHigh
Thanks to a new collaboration between Phoenix College Málaga and King’s InterHigh, students at the Spain-based Sixth Form now have access to an even wider range of A Level subjects in preparation for their dream university degrees.
Surrounded by the golden beaches and rich history of the Costa Del Sol, Phoenix College Málaga is a new British international Sixth Form College. Launched in 2018 by three experienced UK teachers, the college serves both the local Spanish community and international expat families throughout the popular port city.
To broaden their students’ A Level choices, Phoenix College Málaga has now teamed up with King’s InterHigh to offer several new subject options, including:
- Specialist language teaching in French and German
- Computer Science
- Law
- Economics
This strategic collaboration adds to the existing rich A Level programme Phoenix College Málaga currently offers, covering Maths, natural sciences, and social sciences. Building on an initial selection of 11 subjects, students can now choose from an additional 10 subjects through King’s InterHigh.
Starting from September 2022, King’s InterHigh will deliver these subjects fully online in live, interactive lessons with expert UK teachers. Following a proven model of online learning, King’s InterHigh teachers bring games, quizzes, polls, simulations, and more into the collaborative virtual classroom environment, using educational tools like VR and AR to enhance learning.
As part of their online studies, Phoenix College learners will also enjoy 24/7 access to lesson recordings, resources, and materials for flexible and efficient studying. King’s InterHigh regularly measures and monitors progress throughout the year, so every student will receive the level of support and challenge they need to reach—and exceed—their exam goals. Students can contact their teachers for guidance outside of class, and weekly feedback is provided to help students develop their own understanding and identify how they can improve.
Alongside their school community in Málaga, Phoenix College students will also become part of the wider King’s InterHigh community, which is home to thousands of classmates from all around the world.
With 17 years of expertise in online learning, an impressive academic track record of A Level results, and students progressing to Russell Group and Ivy League universities, King’s InterHigh is delighted to work alongside Phoenix College Málaga. Bringing students greater freedom of choice, this new partnership reflects the college’s commitment to ensuring excellence in education and nurturing individual students’ potential. Together, both schools will ensure that students are supported to achieve their aspirations, whichever academic pathway they choose.
Mr. Gareth Lucas-Howells, Head of Business Development at King’s InterHigh, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be chosen by Phoenix College Málaga to complement the fantastic work that they already do and to widen the opportunities for students with Edexcel and Cambridge-accredited live online A Level lessons.”
Kirsty Ridyard BA Oxon, MA Oxon, Co-Director of Phoenix College Málaga, adds: “We are very excited about working with King’s InterHigh. One good thing to emerge from the pandemic is that students are much more skilled at working online, and this partnership will enable our students to benefit from the best that both presential AND online teaching has to offer.”
