Reem Ahmed | Aspiring scientist on hard work and big dreams
With GCSE grades eight and nine in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and more, it’s no surprise Reem is fascinated by science. She tells us how King’s InterHigh has boosted her social skills and helped her be more open-minded, and why she’s willing to put in hard work to get what she wants.

Aspiring scientist on hard work and big dreams
Why did you join King’s InterHigh, and what has your learning journey with us meant to you?
One of the reasons I joined King’s InterHigh is one of my friends had a good experience with the school. They told me about it and I really liked it too. I then told my friends, and they joined as well.
It seems like a very good choice for many students. It’s flexible, and you can join lessons in real-time and watch them online. Also, the teachers are professionals in their subjects. With their help, I’ve been able to develop my knowledge in the entire syllabus over the past two years.
Have you developed any new skills during your journey with us?
I’ve developed my social skills. Sometimes I’d take part in breakout rooms where I have to talk to people I don’t know, which took me out of my comfort zone. But it helped me develop those social skills. I also became more open-minded, because I got to learn about people from different countries and how varied our mindsets are.
I’ve learned I need to get out of my comfort zone to achieve what I want. If I have a big dream, I have to make big, daring moves. I heard the saying ‘You either dream according to the work you put in, or you work according to the dream you want.’ So if I’ve got a big dream, I’ve got to work hard.
What are your dreams for the future?
I want to finish my A Levels in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and become a scientist in the future. I’m not exactly sure what kind of scientist, because I find something new and fascinating every day.
It could be something in medicine, scientific research or astronomy. But I want to do something in science, because I find it really intriguing.
